This is the main wiki page for labs in Medical Imaging Systems (codes BAM33ZSL, BEAM33ZSL).
Teaching assistants:
Labs take place on Wednesdays at 9:15-10:45 or 11:00-12:30, in room KN:E-230 (Karlovo nám.).
The title in italics means there is no session in the computer lab - it is either elsewhere or canceled.
The materials (or their final version) will be provided before each lab session.
In week 3, you will perform some practical experiments with ultrasound. You will work in small groups during the whole week, i.e. not only in the standard lab time. Please make groups of 2-3 people, see the planning page and mark a slot by either adding a comment there or sending me an email. Read the instructions beforehand.
The following activity is not obligatory but highly recommended.
On Wednesdays 18.3. and 25.3., we will visit the Motol hospital. You will be shown several imaging devices (CT,MRI, nuclear imaging). We will go by groups, about 1/2 each week. Please see the planning table (to be populated shortly) planning table using your CTU account. If you are unable or unwilling to go a certain week, please inform us immediately, either by email or by adding a comment to the table. The visit is expected to last until about 12:30. You should be at 9:15 in the “aula ředitelství FNM a děkanátu 2. LF UK” in the Motol hospital. From the Motol metro station, you go straight across a little “square” (with a pharmacy and a small shop). If you get lost, call dr. Šanda (702 024 204).
This is another optional activity. It will take place in parallel with the Motol hospital visit above, so you are expected to go one week to Motol and the other week to see the cardiac ultrasound.
On Wednesday morning, March 18 and March 25 from 10:00 to 11:30, we will go to the General university hospital (VFN) at Karlovo namesti. You will be shown practical clinical ultrasound techniques (B mode, M mode, Doppler, strain…) in small groups. To get there, enter the hospital by the main gate (street U Nemocnice 2), turn left and then the first entrance on the left (pavilion A10) and then up to the first floor. Then follow the signs to the echocardiography laboratory of the 3rd department of internal medicine (“3. interna”). Prof. Robert Holaj will meet you there. I (Jan Kybic) will go there too (certainly the first time, on March 18), so if you want to go together from Karlovo náměstí, let me know. During the first two terms (March 18 and March 25), the commentary will be mainly in Czech. If there is enough interest, we will organize a tour in English on May 20 (last week of the semester), so please let me know.
Please see the planning table (to be populated shortly).. If you are unable or unwilling to go a certain week, please inform us immediately, either by email or by adding a comment to the table.
We will visit the Center for advanced preclinical imaging (CAPI). They have a number of medical imaging devices, including some exotic ones like magnetic particle imaging or photoacoustic imaging, mainly for imaging small animals. The visit is again not compulsory but is strongly recommended.
We will go in two groups, one group will go at 9:15 and the other at 11:00 on April 15. We will meet in front of the building at Salmovská 3. Please come at least 5 minutes in advance - if you come late, you might not be able to enter. The detailed instructions are in the following documents ( CZ, EN (to be updated).
There is a planning table (available soon) , where we divided you to the two time slots. If the assigned time doesn't suit you or if for any reason can't or don't want to go to the CAPI visit, please let us know by sending an email to schnejak@fel.cvut.cz or by adding a comment to your name in the table. If you do not come without letting us know in advance, we will consider this an anauthorized absence..
Předpokládáme základní znalost prostředí Matlab, pokud si znalosti chcete osvojit, doplnit či připomenout, doporučujeme následující tutoriál (cz) a další materiály z webu.
We will use Matlab for computation, visualization and other numerical calculations. Matlab is commonly used tool in research and development from academia to private companies.
How to get it
For study purposes, students are allowed to use the CTU multi-licence of Matlab on their own computers. The main CTU password is required for downloading.
How to start
Please use one of the web tutorials to freshen or improve your MATLAB experience.
