Exam

For attending an exam, you need to fulfill requirements for "zápočet" (Check your KOS).

The PUI exam has two parts:

  • written test
  • oral exam

Total number of points possible to get from the exam is 50. You can get maximum of 30 points from the written test and maximum of 20 points from the oral exam. For passing the whole exam, you need at least 25 points.

You have to take the written test before the oral exam. You will be given your grade in the oral exam, based on your score from the assignments and homeworks, written test score and your answers in the oral exam.

When resitting the exam, you have to take both the written test and oral exam again.

All questions in the exam are in english, you can answer either in Czech or English. You can ask for a translation if you need it.

There will be mostly theory in the oral part of the exam and mostly practice in the written part of the exam.

You can use your pocket calculators (no mobile phones).

Registering for the Exam

To register for an exam date, sign up in KOS. On the day of the exam, you will sit a written test in the morning. If you pass the written test, you will be admitted to the oral exam.

Sign-up for exam dates will close 2 days before the exam, at which point we will send out an email to registered students who can then pick a timeslot for the oral exam.

You can attempt the exam at most three times.

Written Test

Written test will take place between 10:00 and 12:00. At 9:45, we will start a MS Teams call in the exam channel, in the PUI team, where we will explain the rules and the process for taking the test and submitting your results. In this call, you will be able to receive help and advice during the whole course of the written test.

In the written test, you are NOT required to be on the call. However, you have to work through the test on your own, without any external help.

The written test is randomized, with each student receiving a unique set of questions.

The question sheets will be accessible from BRUTE. You will also put your answers into BRUTE as well.

To pass the written test, you must submit a PICTURE or PICTURES (.jpeg, .png, .pdf or any other common and reasonable image format) of any work you have done during the exam, e.g. sheets of papers with your notes, screenshots from tablets, whiteboard… Please, make sure BEFOREHAND that you have a way of getting the images to BRUTE in reasonable quality, we will be relying on these notes in grading.

Oral Exam

Oral exam will take place between 14:00 and 18:00. When signing up for the timeslots, please fill the timeslots from the beginning of this time period to prevent gaps.

Each exam will take 15 minutes, please be ready at your allotted timeslot, with a working microphone, working camera and good internet connection. If you do not have access to some of these, let us know as soon as possible.

At the allotted time, you will be called by the two lecturers on MS Teams. If there are any delays or updates, you will be informed through the MS teams exam channel.

FAQ

Q: Do I need to submit assignment 2? A: You need to submit assignment 2 to get “zápočet” even if you already have enough points from assignment 1. However, you can take a minimalist approach (with corresponding minimalist score), with code and report on e.g. replanning only. You could also submit report only, with no code, where you review some of the methods we have worked with in probabilistic planning and mention their potential in given task.
